The Authenticity of Hip Hop
There is so much I can say about Hip Hop! This genre was a gateway into so many other styles of music for me.
Hip Hop really is deeper than rap. Over the years Hip Hop has showed me that if a rapper raps about certain topics in their music, they better be about it in real life too. Hip Hop has taught me that what you stand for and represent is just as important as your craft. Some of my favorite artists in this genre have modeled what it looks like to use your platform and to stay true to yourself and your beliefs. This genre that has taught me so much about life would not exist without Black people. Hence, the Black Music Month spotlight! Loving Hip Hop and not loving black people just doesnβt make sense to me.
This week on my story Iβm going to highlight two artists that I really admire. One has shaped some of my views of business and the other is currently shaping my views of civic engagement. Can you guess who they are?
