Cared For.. Playlist Reflections
So when I mentioned switching it up this week for Black Music Month I meant talking about hip hop music but honestly, the state of the world has been so overwhelming I just need to listen to music that reminds me of the Gospel. Hearing about Toyin’s murder so sad, I see my sisters in her. And then constantly being reminded of what we have to go through as Black woman and don’t even get me started on Breonna Taylor’s killers still chillin…smh I don’t want to always have to be a “strong Black woman” I want to be cared for and protected sometimes too.
In God we are protected and cared for and so valuable. These songs are reminding me of that truth right now and I hope that they can be encouraging to you too. All the artists are Black women except for a few features and I absolutely love these songs. I’m thankful I can sing them knowing they’re truth.
I used a picture for this cover art because something about Toyin makes me want to be intentional about getting pictures taken of myself. She makes me want to live out loud and not forget that I exist for a purpose. She was just a kid smh I’m believing she is wearing a crown in Heaven and is able to see the fulfillment of the promises that Jesus gives.
