Black Music Month

Like many of us, all of this is still a lot for me. Instead of trying to pretend like all is fine, I’ve been thinking of ways that I can be impactful going into June which is Black Music Month. One of the more simple ways I’ve thought of is to celebrate and continue to celebrate Black stories.

Of course we need to continue to protest, donate, draw attention to racism, and make visible change. All of us need to join together in the fight against injustice to Black people; we’re stronger and more impactful when we’re united. Let’s also not forget to bring light to who Black people are. We’re talented, dynamic, unique, and versatile! There are so many ways that we express ourselves through art, film, and of course music. This month I will be intentionally sharing black stories within music and music culture in this country. God created me with this skin color for a reason and I refuse to let anyone make me think He made a mistake.
